I’m Becky – great to meet you, or should I say, great for you to meet me and read my thoughts. Haha! Hope you visit again, so I guess I better make this little blog interesting enough for you to remember it to return.
Well I’ve officially been an east coaster for 12 weeks, just under three months. Just like the title of this little place, my husband and I made the trek from the golden to the garden state. It’s been quite an interesting journey that led me 2500 miles away from the places I’ve called home for 38 years of my life. I’ll always love Southern California, and will probably always miss it in many ways.
But here I am.
Ready to see what draws so many people out of their small towns across the country and around the world, to live in or near one of the greatest cities on this planet. So far, I’m loving the people-watching and taking it all in, just trying not to get run over on my way to and from the train.
So welcome to my little corner of the world. My friends know how much I love food – cooking it, eating it, talking about it, reading about it… anything related to food, I’m interested. I decided to start a video blog on YouTube (youtube.com/user/goldentogardenstate), which is coming soon. It will feature some great recipes, easy cooking tips, shortcuts and and hosting advice. The kitchen and the act of cooking should never feel intimidating or foreign – they should be inviting and exciting! It’s one of the most satisfying places where you can let your style, tastes and creativity shine through. I want to help inspire you to find and grow the same love for the kitchen and cooking as I have.
I’m a young working professional like most of you out there, and like you I also often times struggle to find the motivation to cook, come up with a new idea for a potluck, or try to figure out an easy menu for a dinner party. I know – the struggle is real! But we’re here to help each other, right? So feel free to share your thoughts, your suggestions and your ideas. My way is definitely not the only way, and I love to experiment.
I may not be a professional chef, but I’m 100% the executive chef in Chez Wenstrup!
